Security or techno-racism? Facial Recognition in CCTV

This month, the Metropolitan Police are introducing live facial recognition in CCTV across London streets. 

An attempt to fight crime, it works similarly to fingerprint scanning but detects faces instead. 

But anti-surveillance group Big Brother Watch have branded the move “an expansion of the surveillance state and a serious threat to civil liberties ”.

Will this decision keep Londoners safer or is it a new form of techno-racism?
